Happy New Year, peeps!
If you hang out at dA often enough, you’ll notice this talk about people being hacked and deactivated for no apparent reasons. dA is like a playing field for hackers.
It will be really sad if any of one of us is deactivated. Already I am seeing many deactivated accounts.
EDIT: The point about deactivation that is so important is that IT IS IRREVERSIBLE! You'll lose everything you have accumulated up until the point of deactivation, that's including the artwork you uploaded, friendships made, favs, points, gifts, llamas, EVERYTHING! NOTHING CAN BE RECOVERED (unlike Facebook, of course).
To keep ourselves safe, take some time to read some of these journal entries/ news articles here. I could regurgitate them but these are quite well written already.

Explaining my sudden somewhat disappearance
Hi peeps, how are you guys doing?
I am writing to talk about my sudden disappearance for the last two months. Strictly speaking, I did not disappear, I was still on dA a bit less regular and I have not been submitting any deviations about two months. Somehow I think this warrants some explanation for you my dearest dA friends. Special thanks to Prismatic-Prince (https://www.deviantart.com/prismatic-prince) for his note. Some updates for you wonderful peeps. I am kinda slow in drawing lately. Partly due to this pesky problem with this #1 broadband provider in Malaysia, absolute crap they are treating me. (If you are Malaysian, I am sure you know which company is that and can sympathise with me) And since I am not online outside of office hours, I have time to let my mind wander and think about some necessary and unnecessary stuff and also reading books and watching some DVD that finally reached me from UK. It seems that deactivation takes 7 days to complete permanently. However, I can imagine that if the person doesn't log in within those 7 days, or if the email the confirmation is sent to is hacked or otherwise inaccessible, then they are in trouble still. We must be safe! Thanks for the infomation.
